Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at once to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished by a number of means such as using upgrade components as well as increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items can be found all over the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the most common method of upgrading equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be used in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and provide numerous bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.
Choose the item from your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen. It will show the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as Blocked if you do not have enough of either.
The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components needed for a particular item. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but can be reduced using various methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
The majority of weapons can be upgraded by a prefix like a rune or an insignia. Some can be enhanced with the suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item and add an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any mods.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to convey information via visuals. They move to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in conveying an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could increase a stat's value, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This range is the maximum value that a glyph can improve a stat by but not the amount it actually increases it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the product you are in awe of it.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of gear by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered using the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph the shards from that glyph will disappear. You can also apply the glyph on your equipment to provide an extra benefit. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at one time. This can be helpful for players who are taking many hits from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment and can be found through a variety of methods like mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and typically better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the upgrade menu, however they can still receive upgrades. If you click the "upgrade button" you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will alter the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be selected to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, therefore items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to reroll tokens players can also make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the percentage chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.
Rerolling is an excellent option to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of rerolls it took to get it to the final level. This effect is most evident on Rings and Diadems since they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
Some players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It's more fair to allow people to pay for it using money or food items, which would allow players to make adjustments to their builds without having to invest excessive amounts of time. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They're planning to include a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first method of leveling up an upgrade for an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the upgrade value for a stat. The second option is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which increases the damage or healing of an individual stat. Additionally you have the option to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. Once this is done the new item will retain its iLevel however it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded type of item.
When upgrading items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In the majority of cases, a better roll will be derived from glyphs, however there are also opportunities for more or unique rolls.
